Canyon Ferry Reservoir, near Helena, MT, is a dimictic eutrophic to hyper-eutrophic reservoir formed in 1955 by impoundment of the upper Missouri River near Helena, MT. KF2 has been contracted by DEQ to develop a 2-D CE-QUAL-W2 model for the management of nutrients in the reservoir, including understanding nitrogen and phosphorus loading levels and in-pool concentrations that will be prohibitive of harmful algal blooms (HABs).
Model development activities are currently underway including hydrodynamic and water quality calibration.
